
Senior Micaela Klaus Paces Pacific, Tigers Finish Ninth at Big West Championships

Riverside, Calif.- The Pacific cross country team placed ninth in the Big West Championships on Saturday Nov. 1, as five Tigers competed in the meet. Senior Micaela Klaus (Peru, N.Y.) paced Pacific as she finished 48th overall, to lead the Tigers. The Tiger veterans led the pack on Saturday as Klaus, sophomore Kristina Hammarstrom (Manteca, Calif.), and senior Meghan Mullen (South San Francisco, Calif.) finished in the top three spots in the Pacific lineup. Running a 6K event, Klaus finished with a time of 22:36.60, breaking her own school record in the 6K, while Hammarstrom finished right behind her with a 22:54.00. Mullen led the last wave of Tiger runners with a 67th place time of 24:18.50, netting her personal best time on the year. Sophomores Katie Bella (Beavertown, Ohio) and Devon Blount (Germantown, Penn.), competing in their first Big West Championships, posted a 25:57.70 and 27:09.90 respectively. UC Riverside took home the crown on their home course, as they edged out UC Irvine by nine points. UC Davis rounded out the top three in the team finishes. Danielle Domenichelli of UC Santa Barbara finished first overall in the event, with a time of 20:09.40.
