Cross Coutry Head Coach Wes Stolp Resigns to pursue PhD
Aug. 2, 2005 STOCKTON, Calif. -- University of the Pacific Director of Athletics Lynn King has announced the resignation of Wes Stolp as Pacific's women's cross country coach. Stolp is leaving Pacific to enter the PhD program for Educational Policy at Georgia Tech. The cross country team saw significant improvement from recent years in 2004. The Tigers had record-breaking feats (three athletes broke the school record in a 5K), accomplished personal bests and collected the first victory over an NCAA Division I opponent in program history. Additionally, the Tigers were one of 50 cross country teams in the nation to accumulate a 3.0 or better grade point average. "Wes did a very good job in a short time with our women's cross country program," said King. "Although he will be missed, we wish him luck in his future." Pacific will begin a search for a new coach immediately.
